Personal development, health and physical education (PDHPE) is mandatory from Kindergarten to Year 10.
According to the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA), students are expected to participate in PDHPE for between 1.5 and 2.5 hours per week in Kindergarten to Year 6.
PDHPE provides students with opportunities to explore issues that are likely to impact on the health, safety and wellbeing of themselves and others – now and in the future. Students also participate in challenging and enjoyable physical activity, improving their capacity to move with skill and confidence.
Sporting houses
We have four sports houses at Kingswood South Public School named after prominent and contemporary sports persons. Students are placed in a sporting house on enrolment. The sports houses are:
- Blaxland (Blue)
- Marsden (Yellow)
- Jamison (Red)
- King (Green).
Public schools sporting association (PSSA)
We participate in summer and winter PSSA. Our sporting teams play netball, t-ball, soccer, basketball, newcombe ball and AFL, which are selected through a trial process and compete in area competitions organised by the Penrith School Sports Association.
Coaching of these teams is carried out by volunteer teachers at our school.
This competition takes place each Friday at a variety of locations throughout the Penrith area.
