Rules and policies

Rules and policies are in place to make sure your child remains safe and well at school.

Visit the NSW Department of Education’s policy library for all current operational policies.

Our school uses the department's School Community Charter to ensure all of our communication is collaborative and respectful.

Attendance and absences

Students must attend school regularly so they can achieve their educational best and increase their career and life options.

In NSW, all children from the age of 6 are legally required to attend school or be registered for home schooling through the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA). All students must complete Year 10, or its equivalent and remain in school, employment or training until they turn 17.

For more information about compulsory school attendance, visit:

School frameworks (school rules)

As well as following the department’s operational policies, we have developed frameworks for our students in line with our school’s values and commitments.

STUDENT WELLBEING

At Kingswood South Public School, Positive Behaviour For Learning is promoted through our school wide behaviour system and our three expectations:

Be Safe

Be Respectful

Be A Learner

A matrix of behavioural expectations outlines to students what is expected of them in different settings across the school.

An integral part of the Student Wellbeing system is the School Level System.

LEVEL SYSTEM

All students start the school year at Green Level and have the opportunity to progress to Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum Levels during the course of the school year. Orange and Red levels are allocated on the basis of a significant need to improve behaviour.

During our Assemblies, students are able to receive a number of different awards, including their Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum awards for behaviour. Academic awards are given out for reasons specific to learning.

At one monthly whole school assemblies, students are also able to be nominated for our Aussie of the Month Award for outstanding citizenship, as well as the Writer of the Month Award.

Our Assemblies are held each week on Wednesdays at 2pm.
